Many composers of the 20th and 21st century have dedicated exceptional parts for the tuba in their symphonic works for the wind band. However, among all of them, the American Gregory Fritze stands out, a great connoisseur of the band’s instrumental template, compositional technique and the possibilities of this instrument, because above all, he is a tuba player. This article gathers a selection of the most outstanding excerpts for tuba in Gregory Fritze’s woks for wind band and a practical proposal for the cataloging and analysis of those excerpts, delimited in a «technical file», which will be applied to all of them. It will be important to know the close relationship that Mr. Fritze maintains with Spain and its music wind bands, as well as with the International Wind Band Contest «City of Valencia», to understand when, where and how he creates these works.
